Simple Abudance: A Daybook of Comfort and Joy is a book by Sarah Ban Breathnach. The 'Mother hen' of our department gave me this book after hearing of my rather harsh diagnosis. She said that she read it when times were tough for her, and thought I could gain some insight from it. Written by a woman for women, it features daily inspirational essays on topics like gratitude, harmony, self-nurturing, positive body image. Although spiritual in nature, the book isn't overtly preachy and allows for one to try and change the way she sees the universe and everything that happens in life. So far, it has given me some hope and given me suggestions on how I can change the way I perceive my situation. Although IF is different than the issues most people complain about, I need to accept my situation for what it is. Throughout blogging, I may refer to a day's essay as I try to understand my situation and how I can change my perception of reality. Given how my faith has been shaken, I like how Simple Abundance gives me hope without having to turn to faith.
